Youth Goalkeeping Diploma

Dec 21, 2024

Delaware County Christian School

30 spots left

The overall objective the "Youth Goalkeeping" Diploma is to guide coaches who are working with goalkeepers in U8-U13 environments (essentially players who are starting travel or IM soccer until high school age). This Diploma will put an emphasis on the technical foundation and decision-making needed to develop goalkeepers at a young age into their high school years. In addition, we will focus on how to create effective and efficient goalkeeping sessions that will bring out core goalkeeping principles needed for goalkeeping success and development. It is important to note we do not define success as winning games in the youth environment, instead success for youth players is proper development and developing a love for the game that will carry them into their high school years (and potentially beyond). This course will be held at Delaware County Christian School (Newtown Square, PA) on Saturday, December 21st, from 9 am to 5 pm. It will be instructed by Micah Collins - for more info on him, feel free to visit "Our Team" page above or scroll below. We will begin at 9 am in the library (see map below). The course will consist of classroom and on-field portions. When we are on the field, we will bring in youth goalkeepers to participate, but please come prepared to play and coach. Campus Address: Delaware County Christian School 462 Malin Road Newtown Square, PA 19073 9a-1p - Classroom learning 1-2p - Lunch break 2-5p - on-field learning *This course is free; however, we will give priority to coaches who: -Are interested in becoming a Player Project coach OR -Currently coaching within our network of clubs (Aston United, FC Montco, Haverford SC, Marple Newtown SA, Swarthmore SC) OR -Show a strong desire to give back to the soccer community through coaching **After you register, we will review your registration and let you know if you've been accepted, denied, waitlisted, or we'd like more information. We do this because we want to make sure those who sign up will follow through and attend the course! A Certificate of Attendance will be given after attending both the classroom and on-field portions of the course. A Diploma will be awarded to coaches who complete and pass a post-course on-field goalkeeper coaching test. For any questions regarding the course reach out to Micah Collins - micah@playerproject.org or 484-361-4361 (call/text)

Testimonials

My son (u12) has been working with Coach Micah for the last 7+ months in individual sessions. The variety of drills that are tailored exactly to what my son needs to work on showcase Coach Micah's detailed and organized session planning. The techniques he's shown my son have been incorporated into his games and have produced great results. We definitely recommend!

Regarding Individuals

“I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to take GK 1 and 2. I learned so much and I plan on using the techniques and tools given to me to better help my players. It was so great to get to meet you and see some old friends this weekend. I greatly appreciate the opportunity.”

My preteen daughter's experience with the Player Project has been wonderful. The small group and one-on-one training have helped with her soccer skills, footwork and endurance, as well as her confidence. Coach Bristol and Coach Jake are professional, skilled, and fun - I highly recommend this for any kid who wants or needs some extra coaching.
