Bill Collins
Prior to coaching and his engineering career, Bill’s playing days included club soccer with Shimano in the Lehigh Valley area, ultimately becoming a Parade All-American with Liberty High School, which led him to Penn State to play under legendary coach Walter Bahr. Thinking back on his soccer playing days, he attributes much of his soccer success to quality coaching that focused on proficiency with soccer fundamentals, as well as simply enjoying ‘the beautiful game.’
His contribution to the coaching side of the sport consisted of many years as a recreational and club coach. His small-town club teams with York United Soccer Club were competitive against some the strongest teams for large metro areas along the East Coast. Likewise, many of his players earned post-season honors and went on to play at the collegiate level, while a handful of his players earned a PIAA State championship with Susquehannock High School. During his coaching years he served as the President of York United, earned his USSF “D” License, and was also a PIAA soccer official.
Outside of soccer, Bill is a principal with BKM, an engineering company in which he teams with architects and other consultants to design spaces for the pharmaceutical industry and higher education institutions. Like many professional vocations, he recognizes the skills and characteristics learned on the pitch (teamwork, sportsmanship, passion) are applicable to each player’s future occupation. Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State University, and has served as a board member with various entities including York United, a Christian school, his church, and a Christian ministry with an international outreach. In 2022, Bill founded his own non-profit named "Engineering Hope" with the purpose to build and advise engineering projects for those in need.
Bill resides in Southern York County, Pennsylvania, with his wife of 40 years, and looks forward to opportunities to mentor young people, snow ski, as well as bike and go hiking with his wife.
